Benefits of Motion Analysis
bullety.gif (85 bytes) Increase Production Line Speeds.
Motion Analysis can allow production lines speeds to be increased by letting engineers clearly see, understand, and correct the problems which often occur when equipment speed is increased. A 10% increase in productivity not only lowers the per unit cost, but may also help eliminate the need to purchase additional production equipment.
Motion Analysis also offers the unique capability of increasing equipment productivity without increasing machine movement speeds by enabling engineers to reduce the dwell time between sequential equipment movements. With this capability, a manufacturer of component insertion equipment was able to increase throughput speeds by 22%.
bullety.gif (85 bytes) Trouble Shooting
Costly downtime can be greatly reduced with motion analysis because it allows engineers to much more quickly and efficiently diagnose and correct production line equipment problems. One disk manufacturing company estimated their annual savings to be more than $500,000 due to use of motion analysis.
bullety.gif (85 bytes) Preventive Maintenance
Many companies establish specific times for preventive maintenance of their production line equipment. Effective use of motion analysis can help extend production time between maintenance by enabling engineers to see, analyze, and fine tune the production equipment so that the key mechanisms can be adjusted to last longer.
bullety.gif (85 bytes) Equipment Set-up Time
Motion analysis can be a great help in shortening the time needed to set up and fine tune production equipment after either scheduled downtime or production line changeovers. By getting the production lines set up and adjusted quicker the total plant output can be significantly increased.
